Benfotiamine

S-benzoylthiamine O-monophosphate

Visual ViewRaw Data
Combined Shape
A vitamin B1 derivative that combats AGEs formation.

Benfotiamine is a fat-soluble, highly bioavailable derivative of thiamine (Vitamin B1). It works by activating the enzyme transketolase, which shunts harmful glucose metabolites away from pathways that create Advanced Glycation End-products (AGEs). By mitigating the accumulation of AGEs, which cause protein cross-linking and tissue stiffening, benfotiamine may counter a central mechanism of aging and metabolic disease.

Verdict

A safe, targeted intervention to combat glycation-related aging damage.
